Jaune Brilliant Rich is exactly that…rich. While it looks similar to ochre, when placed next to one, the difference in depth is apparent. This yellow is a good mixer with middle-Value colors. Mixed with a variety of reds, it is of great use to figure and portrait painters.

True Jaune Brilliant is a lead compound and should not be confused with the mixtures, or “HUE” colors. These are prime pigments calcined at different temperatures to produce a variety of variations of hue. They are extremely useful on the palette, allowing for subtle transitional tones that remain clean and brilliant. Clean yellows that are not high Chroma, like cadmiums, are rare because most are proprietary blends, and those are either dull or grow dull in mixture.
