Jaune Brilliant #1 is a mid-to-high-Value color. It is very opaque and as is typical of all Jaune Brilliants, a smooth handling paint. Useful when painting hair and mixing with white for warm fleshtones that do not betray any chalkiness. This is a useful color for painting various yellow metals such as gold and brass.

True Jaune Brilliant is a lead compound and should not be confused with the mixtures, or “HUE” colors. These are prime pigments calcined at different temperatures to produce a variety of variations of hue. They are extremely useful on the palette, allowing for subtle transitional tones that remain clean and brilliant. Clean yellows that are not high Chroma, like cadmiums, are rare because most are proprietary blends, and those are either dull or grow dull in mixture.
